University Model UN Conferences
Since the creation of the United Nations, Model United Nations Conferences (MUNCs) have given delegates the rare opportunity to attempt to resolve complex global issues diplomatically through role-play. MUNCs are an authentic simulation of the debates and deliberations of UN bodies, such as the General Assembly.
The UNAA Victoria has run a highly successful program of Model UN Conferences throughout major Victorian universities since 2003, as well as an Inter-University Conference. The conferences have involved undergraduate and postgraduate students from all faculties and departments and have focused on a diverse range of issues including: Refugees, Global Security and Human Rights; Humanitarian Intervention, State Sovereignty and Weapons of Mass Destruction; Trade and Justice; Genetically Modified Foods; People Trafficking; UN Reform; Biotechnology, Ethics and Intellectual Property Right.
Each year, the UNAA ran several conferences in Universities throughout Melbourne. If you are interested in participating in an upcoming Model UN Conference in 2007, please contact the UNAA office. Further information will be uploaded as it becomes available.
