Winners of the 2008 World Environment Day Awards were announced at the Awards Presentation Dinner held at the Grand Hyatt, Melbourne on Friday 6 June, 2008. For a complete list of this year's finalists please see our media release.

The United Nations Association of Australia is pleased to announce that the 2008 World Environment Day Awards Presentation Dinner was a Green Power Event powered by Green Power - 'new' accredited renewable energy that comes from an approved, government renewable energy source: wind. This was made possible through the generous support of Origin. By allocating 1MWh of accredited Green Power, the Awards Presentation Dinner prevented the release of approximately 1 tonne of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
