Dr Crystal Legacy
Vice-Chancellor’s Research Fellow, Centre for Urban Research, RMIT University
Dr Crystal Legacy is an Australian Research Council (DECRA) Fellow and a Vice Chancellor’s Research Fellow in the Centre for Urban Research at RMIT University. She completed her PhD in Urban Planning at the University of Melbourne in 2010 where she examined the metropolitan plan making processes for Perth and Vancouver with a particular focus on the use of deliberative democracy in strategic planning. Currently, Crystal is undertaking her DECRA research examining the impact of large-scale economic crises on local democratic planning practices in Australian and Canadian cities. In 2013, Crystal published a co-edited book titled Building Inclusive Cities: Women’s safety and the right to the city (Routledge) and she is currently working on a second edited book titled Instruments of Planning: Tensions and Challenges for more Equitable and Sustainable Cities to be published by Routledge in early 2015.

Director, Economics and Infrastructure Advisory, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu
Michael is a Director in Deloitte’s Infrastructure Advisory team and has over 14 years’ experience in project financing transactions across a wide range of industries, including the road, rail, health and education sectors. He has advised both the private and public sectors in Australia and overseas. He specialises in financial structuring and analysis of project finance transactions, principally in the PPP space. He has been involved in significant PPP projects, including Dublin Metro North PPP, Peterborough Hospital PFI, Cross City Tunnel PPP and M7 Motorway PPP. Prior to joining Deloitte, Michael was Associate Director at Grant Thornton UK, acting as deputy head of the private sector PFI advisory business in London. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Michael worked as a Vice President at Macquarie Capital (UK). In all these roles Michael was involved in the financing, modelling and analysis of major infrastructure transactions.
Professor John Stanley
Adjunct Professor, Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies, The University of Sydney
John joined the Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies at University of Sydney in July 2008 as Adjunct Professor and Bus Industry Confederation Senior Research Fellow in Sustainable Land Transport. Prior to taking on this role, he had nine years as Executive Director of Bus Association Victoria, after eight years as Deputy Chairman of the National Road Transport Commission. He has been a member of the Committee for Melbourne's Transport and Climate Change Task Forces, the Vicurban Board, the Urban Renewal Authority Victoria Board, the Victorian Alpine Resorts Coordinating Council and is now a board member of Road Safety Inspections and Chair of ADC Forum, an Australian leadership development group. In 2012-13 he was a member of the Ministerial Advisory Committee advising Victoria’s Minister for Planning on Melbourne’s new Metropolitan Planning Strategy. John is also Chair of the Advisory Committee for the Monash University Institute of Transport Studies. He was awarded a Centenary Medal for services to public transport and conservation.
