Uganda: UN human rights chief deplores ‘excessive’ use of force by authorities

The United Nations human rights chief today urged Ugandan authorities to immediate halt the use of “excessive” force against opposition politicians and protesters, saying it was only fuelling the crisis in the African nation, where at least eight people have been killed and hundreds of others injured in recent weeks.

Charges against recently arrested fugitives must expose sexual crimes – UN envoy

Welcoming the recent arrests of two men long sought for their roles in the Balkans conflicts and the Rwandan genocide, a top United Nations official today stressed the need to ensure that the crimes of sexual violence they both stand accused of are exposed in the legal process under way.

Application deadline for GMUN delegates extended to 31 May

If you are interested in becoming a GMUN delegate but have not yet submitted you application, you now have until 31 May to do so. Please visit the Delegates section of the website for more information on how to apply.
New eligibility requirements

Please note that university students between the ages of 18 to 26 are now eligible to apply to become a GMUN official or delegate. In previous years the age limit was 24. This will give more university students an opportunity to participate in this uniqe experience.
