Climate Justice Seminar

In June 2010, the Association held a seminar, hosted by Allens Arthur Robinson, to address the recent report by the United Nations Non-Government Liaison Service entitled: ‘Climate Justice for a Changing Planet’.

Keynote speaker Professor Robert Hill, UNAA National President, Chairman of the Australian Carbon Trust, former Australian Permanent Representative to the UN (2006-2009) and Federal Environment Minister (1996-2001), addressed UNAA members and members of the general public at the seminar.

The report Climate Justice for a Changing Planet: A Primer for Policy Makers and NGOs addresses the important intersection of equity and justice in the context of the current climate change debate. The book explores climate justice as an emerging concept and as a key to understanding the global debate. The book demonstrates that climate justice is not only an ethical imperative, but also an economic and social one.
